Supporting RMC in the Electric Ship Factory project

We are proud to support RMC in the newly launched Electric Ship Factory (ESF) project! A two-year initiative to accelerate the development and deployment of large, fully electric RoPax and RoRo vessels for European short sea routes.

ESF combines modular ship design, automated construction processes, and an integrated electric maritime corridor platform with one ambition in mind: a scalable, replicable model for zero-emission maritime transport. By shortening throughput times and reducing vessel construction costs, the project aims to make industrial-scale electric shipbuilding a reality and set the standard for Europe, while addressing the shipyard capacity, delivery time, and onshore charging needs that come with scaling the sector.

Led by RMC, the consortium brings together leading players from Finland’s maritime ecosystem, including industry partners Pemamek and Kempower, and research organisations Åbo Akademi University, VTT, Tampere University and Aalto University. The project is partly funded by Business Finland, with additional in-kind expertise provided by Solita, DNV and CeLLife.

“For PBI, contributing to a project of this strategic and global significance is a privilege and a strong fit with our mission. This is exactly the kind of complex, multi-stakeholder transformation where focused execution support makes a clear difference, and where Finnish industrial leadership can shape the future of an entire sector. We are excited to be part of the journey ahead with RMC and the entire consortium”, says Filip Franck, CEO and Partner at PBI.
