NavisSpace
The NavisSpace project is part of Meyer’s NEcOLEAP research program, aiming to achieve climate-neutral cruise ships. In collaboration with Kone, Kudos Dsign Oy, Meyer Turku, SeaKing, Aalto University, and PBI, NavisSpace focused on early-stage ship design, enhancing energy efficiency, reducing infection risks, and improving passenger spaces’ multifunctionality and customer experience. It also analyzed future travelers’ sustainability expectations and leveraged digital tools to optimize passenger flows and onboard logistics.
With a €2.2M budget, funded primarily by Business Finland, the project strengthened Finland’s marine industry. PBI was responsible for project co-ordination, analysing future passenger expectations and the business case from new onboard innovations. The NavisSpace project ran between fall 2023 and spring 2024.
